United Airlines Flight Training Center

FMW proudly completed a landmark project at the United Airlines Flight Training Center in Denver—one of the most advanced aviation training facilities in the world. As part of United’s $145 million expansion, the newly constructed 150,000-square-foot building now houses 12 cutting-edge full-motion flight simulators, dramatically increasing the center’s training capacity to over 32,000 events per year, supporting up to 860 pilots daily.

This expansion reflects United’s commitment to safety and operational excellence—and FMW’s expertise was instrumental in bringing this vision to life.

FMW’s Scope

FMW was selected to provide design, fabrication, and installation services for a wide array of structural and miscellaneous metal components, all engineered to support the complex demands of modern pilot training. Key deliverables included:

• (4) Five-Story Stair Cores

  • 654 total stair risers

  • 1,970 linear feet of railing

  • 373 linear feet of wall railing

  • Two stair cores featured a modern stainless steel wire design
    

• (6) Simulator Access Platforms

  • Each shared by a pair of simulators for streamlined access

  • Custom-built to support advanced equipment and heavy daily use
    

• Additional Structures

  • Penthouse stair and exterior penthouse stair

  • Roof access ladder

  • Robust support structures for all simulator units
